Industrial resins

Industrial resins

Industrial plants rely on equipment that keeps running under chemical, thermal and mechanical stress. Polyester industrial resins and vinyl esters from AOC are used to build tanks, pipes, ducts, scrubbers and process components that last. Our anti-corrosion solutions are backed by more than 70 years of laboratory data and field experience.

    Industrial applications for composite resins

Composites replace steel and stainless steel wherever corrosion is a concern. Common industrial uses include:

    • Storage tanks and process vessels for chemicals and water.
    • Pipes and ducts for process lines, effluent and flue gas.
    • Scrubbers, chimneys and linings in chemical and power plants.
    • Gratings, profiles and covers for platforms and walkways.

    Polyester industrial resins

For less aggressive conditions, unsaturated polyester resins offer a cost-effective solution. Palatal® P 6-01 and Palatal® P 50-01 are multi-purpose orthophthalic resins for tanks and pipes. For higher temperatures, Palatal® P 61-02 and P 69-02 add heat resistance.

    Iso industrial resins

Isophthalic resins offer a step up in chemical and hydrolysis resistance. Synolite™ 1717-N-1 is a high-performance isophthalic resin for tanks and pipes, Synolite™ 1862-N-1 is a multi-purpose Iso/NPG resin for industrial components, and Synolite™ 0266-N-4 and 0268-N-4 are designed for anti-corrosion applications.

Vinyl esters for the toughest conditions

When media become more aggressive or temperatures rise, Atlac® vinyl esters take over. Bisphenol A grades cover a wide range of chemicals, Novolac grades handle higher temperatures and solvents, and easy-processing grades support efficient filament winding. See our vinyl ester range.

    Next™ industrial resins

Lower-footprint options are also available for industrial use, such as rPET-based A421-TMA-30 for filament winding. Products with the Next™ label combine a defined sustainability benefit with the processing and performance industrial equipment demands.

Frequently asked questions about industrial resins

When should I choose vinyl ester instead of polyester?

Choose vinyl ester when chemicals become more aggressive, temperatures rise or a longer service life is required. For milder conditions, ortho or iso polyester can be more cost-effective.

What information do I need for Chemical Resistance Advice?

Provide the chemicals and concentrations, pH, operating and design temperatures, exposure conditions and construction details of your equipment.

Chemical Resistance Advice for industrial equipment

Choosing a resin for industrial equipment requires precise knowledge of the chemicals, concentrations, temperatures and construction. AOC's Chemical Resistance Advice service uses our test database and field experience to recommend a suitable resin and laminate build-up. Request advice and select the polyester industrial or vinyl ester resin that fits your process.
