What makes a resin easy to process?

Ease of processing depends on several properties working together:

• Fast and complete fiber wet-out, even with thicker reinforcements.
• A stable gel time and controlled exotherm.
• Good air release and low tendency to drain on vertical surfaces.

Easy processing polyester resins

For hand lay-up and spray-up, Synolite™ 5410-I-1 and Synolite™ 5410-I-2 are multi-purpose resins with easy processing capability. Synolite™ 8388 grades add low shrinkage for thick laminates. For closed moulding, Synolite™ 1967-G-10 and 1967-G-12 are DCPD resins for RTM and infusion with good surface quality and easy processing.

Easy processing vinyl esters

Vinyl esters are known for high performance, but they can be demanding to process. AOC developed grades that make life easier for fabricators of corrosion-resistant equipment:

• Atlac® E-Nova FW 2045 and Palatal® FW 2245-01, easy-processing vinyl esters for demanding corrosive environments.
• Atlac® 2300, an easy-processing vinyl ester for corrosive applications.
• Atlac® 580, an easy-to-process vinyl ester urethane for tanks, pipes and marine.
